YOUNETPO Host Local Environment Assembly in Liberia
YOUNETPO has completed a two days Local Youth Environment Assembly (LYEA) which brings together youths from communities mostly affected by erosion, wetland abuse, proper waste management system within Monrovia to listen to key stakeholders and experts including Dr. Nathaniel T. Blama Sr. – Government Relations Manager at Ivanhoe/Former Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Agency of Liberia, Mr. John Jallah; Manager Enforcement and Compliance Unit/ EPA and Mr. Arthur R. M. Becker – Program Officer Climate Change division/proxy/EPA.
The event was organized by YOUNETPO in partnership with Major Group for Children and Youth (MGCY) and Youth to UN Environment Program (UNEP). The overall aim and objective of this Local Youth Environment Assembly is to increase awareness on local environmental issues, policies and promote protection and adherence to environmental laws. The event was organized under the global theme: Strengthening Actions for Nature to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals”. “The local theme is Everyone must take action for nature”
