YOUNETPO Hold FY24 Quarter-one- Review and Planning Meeting
At YOUNETPO, we believe that reflections play a key role in determining any success and enhancing quality service delivery. On May 20, 2024 YOUNETPO conducted a daylong hybrid Quarter-one- Review and Planning Meeting. The objectives of the meeting included: Review YOUNETPO progress for program implementation during Quarter 1, noting results achieved, challenges encountered, lessons learnt, promising practices, success stories and recommendations for planning purposes. The team also used the moment to review and validate YOUNETPO final draft Gender Equity and Social Inclusion Policy. The meeting was attended by a cross section of staff including YOUNETPO’s Executive Director, head of departments, project coordinators and managers, supervisors, staff and volunteers. The meeting was held at YOUNETPO head office located on Steve Marvie Avenue Hope Community Thinker’s Village, Paynesville City (See pictures below).
YOUNETPO Engage with Community Dwellers by conducting Town Hall Meetings to talk about YOUNETPO and its Activities
In the month of June 2024 our team conducted two Town Hall Meetings with an aim to talk about YOUNETPO and its activities as a National Youth-led Civil Society Organization in Liberia. The meetings further advance participants understanding about YOUNETPO' Vision, Mission, Thematic areas, Core values, current and past projects and programs, achievements and future plans. Our team also used the opportunity to inform the community's members of how they can benefit, engage and collaborate with YOUNETPO and the importance of their collective ideas for planning and implementation of new programs and projects. The community members and YOUNETPO agreed to collaborate and partner as well as increase information sharing. The events were held in Hope Community/ Cement Road, Thinker's Village, Paynesville City, Montserrado County, Liberia (See figure below).
YOUNETPO Strengthen Partnership and Collaboration with Booker Washington Institute (BWI) through Internship Program and Project Change International.
YOUNETPO values strategic partnership and building allyship with other institutions as a key component of enhancing institutional growth and development. During the period under review, our Administrative and Finance Team conducted a successful interview at the Booker Washington Institute- BWI on June 26, 2024. The purpose of the interview was to recruit interns as part of YOUNETPO’ Youth Empowerment Program (YEP). The YEP is designed to enhance students’ skills for the job market by giving them an opportunity to have firsthand experience on the job thereby making them ready for the job market. YOUNETPO has been an internship partner to the BWI since 2020 and has been recognized by BWI for its consistent role as a partner. On June 18, 2024 a high-level delegation from Project Change International visited our head office to interact with our team. The objectives of the exchange visit included: Sharing of YOUNETPO’s progress for program implementation, noting results achieved, lessons learnt, promising practices, success stories and challenges among other things. The meeting further advances on understanding YOUNETPO' leadership and governance structure, existing policies and guidelines among other things. The meeting was attended by a cross section of team members from both YOUNETPO and Project Change International including the Executive Directors of both institutions, head of departments, project coordinators and managers, supervisors, staff, and volunteers. YOUNETPO and Project Change International have a long term working relationship which is dated as far back as 2020 (see pictures below).
Media Engagement
YOUNETPO Executive Director honored an invitation from the Liberia National Television (LNTV) and was hosted on the Youth Talk show. The invitation was basically extended to YOUNETPO in recognition of its impact over the years as a Youth Led National Civil Society Organization. The interview focused on sharing YOUNETPO’s successes and achievements over the last 10 years, its program impact, challenges as well as upcoming activities for the year (see pictures below).
Institutional Strengthening and Staff Capacity Development Activities
During the period under review, YOUNETPO team participated in a series of capacity development activities aimed at enhancing team members capacity in various areas hereby strengthening YOUNETPO ability to deliver quality service delivery. On June 25, 2024, YOUNETPO team participated in a one-day resource mobilization workshop at FHI360 head office. YOUNETPO participated in the training as a subgrantee to the USAID Funded Meeting Targets and Epidemic Control Project (EpiC) which has FHI360 as Prime implementor. The objective of the one-day training includes but not limited to: Increase domestic resource mobilization and broaden the resource channels by exploring alternative sources of funding to reduce dependence on resources from donor partners and to strengthen the resource mobilization engagement strategies for all 10 CSO partners; enable board members and secretariat staff to share their experiences and aspiration on how to effectively mobilize resource for program and service delivery while keeping track of the organization mission and vision. Our Executive Director; Amb Leo E Tiah and Lisa T. Zayzay; MERL Assistant, participated in two separate Capacity Building activities organized by UNFPA Liberia for members of the Liberia Youth Coalition for Accelerating the ICPD. The objectives of the trainings included; to update participants’ knowledge about the ICPD Platform of Action; to increase knowledge on SRHR topics including tacking GBV and harmful practices; to update participants skills in inclusive leadership, advocacy, and coalition building; and to identify key advocacy priorities for collective actions to feed into a common work plan; development of its 1-year Strategic Plan following a 2-day technical working meeting with the coalition's Secretariat and technical committees. During the training, our Executive Director Amb. Tiah had the opportunity to provide updates from his recent participation at the Global Youth Dialogue held in Cotonou Benin. The trainings were held in Kofi Annan Conference Center located at the One UN House (See Figure Below).
